Introduction to ChakrasĀ

What are chakras and the psychological properties they influence

The chakras are the centre of the body's energy and are located on the body's central axis. There are seven chakras in the body, and their primary influence is on the person's psychological state. The chakras at the body's base dominate the intuitive part, while the chakras near the maximum impact on the mental aspect of our being. The chakras have different levels of activity. When they are "active", these chakras are in a normal functioning state.

Ideally, all chakras will positively affect our emotions and feelings. In reality, however, some chakras are usually not active enough to function, or some are overactive. The ideal state is one in which all the chakras are in balance.

I. Root Chakra, also known as the Muladhara

Ā

The Root Chakra is located at the base of your spine. As the name implies, it represents the root of our life force, including the reproductive system and the legs. The Root Chakra is primarily responsible for the connection with the physical body, i.e. our ability to survive and reproduce and have sex so that one feels safe and secure. It is often expressed in our most primal desires, for food, money, sex, etc. All our energy comes from this initial sexual energy, the basis of everything.

In Yoga terms, the red colour of the Root Chakra is related to one's survival energy, body awareness, and genetics. When the Root Chakra is functioning well, you will feel a sense of being "rooted in the earth" and feel stable and secure. You will not be unnecessarily suspicious of others. You feel alive in the present moment and intimately connected to your physical body. You think that you have a complete sense of the sphere. Your body is strong, your immune system is robust, and you have passionate energy for life. When the Root Chakra is out of balance, there is a strong sense of insecurity, fear, lack of abundance of wealth, indifference to the body, poor circulation of qi and blood, a weak will to survive, and a physical imbalance of the autonomic nerves.

A. If you tend to feel fearful or nervous, your Root Chakra may not be open. You can quickly feel unwelcome.

B. If your Root Chakra is overactive, you may have materialistic, greedy desires, seek stability too much, and refuse to change.

Ā

ā…”. Sacral Chakra, also known as Svadisthana.Ā

Ā The Sacral Chakra is located just below your belly button. The belly button is the place where a baby is connected to its mother. The energy field around the navel represents our relationships and the emotional energy stored in the interaction of relationships, such as anger, sadness, fear, depression, pain and so on. If people's emotions are not always free to express and flow, they will be held here, and as they accumulate over time, they will tend to have a big belly. At the same time, this wheel is also about courage and strength. A person with courage in English has "guts", which refers to the abdomen.

The colour of the Sacral Chakra is orange and is associated with emotions, feelings, intuition and sexuality, and creativity.

A. When open, relationships are harmonious, fulfilling, nurturing and compassionate, confident, warm and intuitive.

B. When out of balance, it is dependent, possessive and has endocrine problems.

Ā

Ā III. Solar Plexus Chakra, also known as Manipura

Ā

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located in your stomach. The Solar Plexus Chakra is yellow and is associated with self-consciousness, reason and willpower. It is the band around our diaphragm, above the stomach. This chakra is also known as the Wheel of Will. Willpower is the power of our willingness to put effort into our choices. But a person with too much willpower will not stop until they achieve their goal, is obstinate and stubborn, and becomes prone to going to the brain, losing their softness and connection to their physical senses. This wheel is likewise about our judgement of right and wrong.

A. When open, self-will is strong, confident, successful, have good influence and reputation, and has power.

B. When out of balance, it is withdrawn, self-pity, a sense of powerlessness, and physical problems with the stomach.

Ā

ā…£. Heart Chakra, also known as Anahata

The Heart Chakra is located near your heart. The Heart Chakra is green in colour and governs compassion, love and mercy. When the Heart Chakra is open, one can love oneself, love others, and give unconditional love. When the Heart Chakra is closed, it causes numbness and mistrust and physical problems with the heart. The heart energetically does not refer to our physical nature but the central location in the chest. This position is about the ability to love and be loved, compassion, unconditional love and acceptance. It is at this round that the person becomes a human being.

A. When your Heart Chakra is inactive, you will be indifferent and distant from people and will not experience love and compassion.

B. When this Chakra is overactive, your over-indulgence can suffocate, and there is usually a rather selfish reason behind your love.

The first three chakras refer to the animal nature of man. In contrast, in the fourth chakra, humanity begins to take over and gradually brings humanity to divinity!

Ā

V. Throat Chakra, also known as Visuddha

Throat Chakra is located in your throat. They are also known as the expression chakra. The throat chakra is blue and is associated with one's ability to communicate, express and create. When functioning well, the person is a good communicator, creative and values spiritual growth. When it is out of balance, one is unable to express oneself, is too authoritarian or concerned with the opinions of others, and has a physical problem with the thyroid gland. It is about the expression of our emotions, the expression of love, and the expression of art. So, this round also represents our creativity. At the same time, this round is also the wheel of belief. There are a lot of views stuck right here. (A lot of opinions are stuck here. Anything that becomes a view is obsessive. This is the wheel of obsession.)

A. When the Throat Chakra is inactive, you tend not to speak, and your personality tends to be introverted and shy. Your voice has no strength, and not speaking from the heart may close this chakra. Or you may be unable to express your opinions, intellect and emotions smoothly.

B. If the Throat Chakra is overactive, you tend to talk too much and usually like to control the conversation so much that people cannot approach you because you are not a good listener.

ā…„. Third Eye Chakra, also known as Ajna

The Third Eye Chakra is between the two eyebrows. It is the colour of indigo, commonly known as the third eye. It is associated with the external impressions, values and beliefs one receives. When balanced, it is objective, stable, insightful and leading. When out of balance, one is easily deceived, develops paranoid thoughts, and suffers from physical migraines. It refers to the part between our two eyebrows. From here, one begins to move towards God. Our physical eyes are used to seeing the outside world; only when the third eye is opened do you start to look towards your inner self, and your wisdom truly opens. This round is about intuition, understanding, and vision.

A. If this chakra is inactive, you tend to rely on authority rather than your thinking. You may rely too much on beliefs rather than rational criticism. You may even manage to fall into confusion. Your own view may be limited.

B. If this chakra is overactive, you may live in a fantasy world. In extreme cases, hallucinations may occur.

Ā

VII. Crown Chakra, also known as Sahasrara

Crown Charkra is located at the top of the head. The Crown Chakra is purple and is associated with one's inspiration, the mission of existence, great wisdom and leadership. When balanced, one is well inspired and knows one's purpose in life. When out of balance, one is depressed, delusional, and physically and mentally debilitated. It is the window of heaven that opens to the Divine. It is about spirituality. When the Crown Chakra is fully open, we can connect with our God, connect with the whole, and hear the language of being.

A. If this chakra is not active, you will not be aware of the spiritual world. You may be very limited in your thinking.

B. If this chakra is overactive, you may be overthinking. You may be over-zealous in your spiritual pursuits and neglect your physical needs and life in the real world.

Source of Energy

Energy comes from one source, not high or low, but there are differences in frequency. For our physical body, all our power comes from sexual energy. However, this does not mean that our energy level is always at the same level or frequency. Just because it comes from sexual energy does not mean we are constantly driven by sex throughout our lives. Still, our lives have different themes at different times. As we focus on our inner being, our level of awareness and consciousness rises, and our energy increases and transforms, like the magic of alchemy. As the raw material is refined, the impurities are gone, the purity increases, and the metal begins to shine. And our growth in body and mind is a continuous process of refining gold, starting from the periphery and refining until we see our shining essence.

The seven chakras presented seven colours of light, from bottom to top: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, precisely the colours of the rainbow. When our energy is purified enough, our light becomes pure white, and white also contains the seven colours. Further, when our consciousness is fully awakened, our colour becomes golden. Of course, all these colours are not visible to our physical eyes but through our third eye. Ordinary people, people have a particular one or two chakras that are more open, and their body reflects the light of the colour of that chakra. Most people also often have a light that is more or less impure and not exceptionally pure because there are still some unpurified and unenhanced parts of them, whether at the physical, emotional, mental or conscious level. Of course, there is no need to bother about this. Everything happens as a natural process.

The seven chakras correspond to seven different bodies, and from the bottom to the top, they are divided in order:

  • The physical body
  • The emotional body (also called the etheric body)
  • The astral body (also called the rational body)
  • The mental body
  • The spiritual body
  • The cosmic body (or karma body)
  • The nirvana body

They are like layers of energy circles that surround our body on the outside. Each of our 'bodies' has to be purified for our energy to become pure. This corresponds to the different life directions of the seven chakras mentioned earlier. That is, we have to be able to remain open and flowing in each of these life directions, and we will become a "whole" person.

So, an all-embracing person is brave and strong but also vulnerable and sensitive; he is combative and hard-working but also relaxed, submissive and enjoyable; he is wise as an older adult and innocent as a child; he is compassionate and soft but also brutal...... In short, if you can name one aspect of him, you will find another opposite aspect, that he is both day and night. Yes, for this is how existence is, both day and night, an all-embracing person who is open to existence and at one with it. Being does not say, "I only want the day and not the night, I only want the sun and not the moon; that would be a maddening world. So, too, a total man cannot just be a "good man" or a "saint"; when night comes, the so-called "bad" side of him that he has suppressed must drive him mad. In the daytime, he tries to be a good person, a saint, in front of people, but at night, at home, or in his dreams, he must be crazy.

So accept yourself, accept all the directions of your life, and you will be whole, and remember that the white light already contains all the rainbow colours!
