What usually affects an amethyst price?

- Size and weight: compare pieces with similar dimensions and weight; a tall tower uses more material than a small point.
- Formation: natural banding, inclusions and small surface features are normal. A clean polish and stable base are practical value points for a tower.
- Origin and presentation: a clearly stated origin, good photos and an exact-piece listing can make comparison easier.
How to compare listings fairly
Compare like with like: a polished tower with another polished tower of similar size and colour. Check whether the price is for the exact photographed specimen or a selected piece from a size range. Ask for extra photos if colour accuracy matters to you—lighting can make purple appear lighter or darker online.
What not to expect
Natural amethyst is not uniform. Small inclusions, colour zoning and minor natural marks are part of the material. A higher price should come with clear information, good presentation and a piece you personally find beautiful—not vague promises.
